Golf Set, Pouring Shock

Today let’s say a world famous golf set, ping g20 driver. Ping was the first manufacturer to offer high quality cast clubs, which reduced costs, allowed better quality control for high tech features and set the stage for manufactured fitting. Ping was also the first to offer factory fitting, via a variety of club heads in different lies and offsets. Beginning about 1980 Ping began offering their fitting program based on a checklist of the player's physical characteristics, common problems and distances.

The golf set has a heavier head than G15 (7 grams more than standard) for greater force at impact. An additional back weighting and a more elongated face is shorn up. (Ping "shaved" the head in the low toe area to meet the 460cc size limit.) The size and shape of the longer head look much better than the G15 and the sound and feel at impact were excellent and the ball took off on a slightly higher but more penetrating trajectory than the G15. A maximum forgiveness driver delivers distance and accuracy. Its 460cc titanium head is longer front to back and features ping’s patented ultra thin crown technology. Weight savings from the thin crown are positioned as an external sole weight to optimize the center of gravity for higher trajectories and reduced spin.

Features are in the following; firstly, the external weighting of the g20 driver helps launch the ball high with low spin for maximum distance and accuracy. Secondly, distance is generated with a new version of ping’s proprietary high-balance-point shaft technology, which allows the golfer to swing a heavier head at the same speed with a high moment of inertia. Thirdly, the clubface on the 460cc head is larger, creating more forgiveness across the hitting area and the g20’s head rotation is neutral, allowing the golfer to deliver the clubface straight at impact.

I tested the golf set 9.5 degree with a Ping TFC 169D stiff shaft. The Ping G20 was touted as the latest game improvement driver by Ping. Funny enough this new driver features a titanium alloy head, which is lighter than most drivers, yet is still heavier than the G15. The head design is unique however, which features an extremely low and back center of gravity to create a higher launch, lower spin and improved accuracy on off-center hits.
