Fans worldwide have come to rely on the Internet for results, video highlights and even live football stream. Thanks to the Net, the popularity of the beautiful game has grown to new levels. Millions of fans who can’t be in the country the game is being held will want to use their computers to see the action. Welcome to the world of online live football streaming.
Real football fans will enjoy live football action any way they can get it. But there is a lot of football out there. If you have favorite teams in several leagues, as many of you do, your challenge will be to find quality sources for your daily live football fix. You really only have a few options: go to the stadium and watch your game live, watch your football game live on TV in the comfort of home, watch live soccer at your local pub or fire up your computer and watch your football match live online, via live football streaming.
The first option will depend on your location and budget. The second one may be best, but it’s only good if you can get the games you want through your cable or satellite service or over the air. The third choice can be good too, but, although the pub atmosphere has its appeal, what you typically won’t get there is all the information happening around, within and beyond your game; the scores for other matches, the table and player stats, and late breaking news.
The last option, on the other hand, can provide you with the best features of the other options, with the possible exception of your favorite pint hand-drawn from a cask in the cellar. With a laptop and a decent Internet connection you can watch online football almost anywhere. Log in and enjoy your game in the solitude of home. Travelling? Sign on at the airport and watch your game while you wait, and wait. Visiting the wife’s parents? Tap into their wireless, turn on your game and tune out mother-in-law. The benefits of a live football stream online are clearly tremendous.
So whether you are a casual supporter or a hardcore football fan, you’ll be relieved to know that if your game is broadcast on TV it’s probably also available on a live football streaming website. In short, if you can access the Internet you can probably access your game.
The Web has become the perfect open platform to deliver high quality live football streaming to the football community. High-speed broadband services, affordable rates and a high percentage of Internet penetration offer optimal circumstances for a high quality interactive experience. To enhance the live football experience, live football stream is often supplemented with game and player stats, text and live audio commentary in multiple languages, chat forums, replays and much more, thus making streaming a rich immersive experience.
Today, football lovers can view almost any single live football stream online. Watching a football match live on the Internet is no longer “Plan B” for many football fans; it is now their “Plan A.” So, if you are part of this cable-less, cord-less generation, sit back and start browsingabout the various options on how to watch live football on the Internet in your country.

Selecting Sports-Specific Gym Shoes
A new membership at the gym near you is one reason to get yourself a new pair of gym shoes. When it comes to gym shoes, however, getting one that suits your style and is comfortable to wear is not enough. Most importantly, you would want to get a pair that suits your goal and purpose, or the reason that you are in the gym in the first place.
For Strength Training and Cardio
Shoes you will need for strength training and cardio needs to have adequate amount of cushioning and support. Cardio workout routines involve moves that require you to jump a lot or move from side to side, which means you will need to have shoes that can absorb shock produced by those movements. Look for shoes that offers good stability for side-to-side and media lateral movements, in particular.
For Weightlifting
Investing in a pair of shoes designed for weightlifting is crucial. When you lift heavy weights, the concentration of the force is towards the ground, which means your feet need to be able to support the weight efficiently. Without the proper footwear, you won't be able to get the full benefits of your workout and you might even end up being injured. If you're going to use regular gym shoes like the ones you use for running, you won't be able to generate the force you need since the padding of the shoes will absorb much of the tension. What you need is a pair of shoes specially-designed for weightlifting so you will end up getting the full benefits of your workout and avoid injuries at the same time.
For the Treadmill
If you love working out on the treadmill, you may have to invest in a pair of running shoes. Cardio shoes may be okay for the treadmill, but they won't help you get the full benefits of the workout. What you would want to take note when selecting running shoes, however, is the type of your foot. If you are into running, you probably know already that there are running shoes designed for overpronation and underpronation.
The whole point of this subject is to make you realize that not all athletic shoes are the same. You can always wear basketball shoes in the gym regardless of what type of workout you always engage in, but if you want to get the most out of your training, you need to invest in a pair of sports-specific shoes. You may need to invest in more than one pair of gym shoes, but the money you spend for them will all be worth it in the long run.

How to Choose the Best Pocket Knife to Fit Your Needs
Consideration #1 - Decide whether you need a single blade, a multi-blade, or a multi- tool. If you just want to use your knife for simply opening boxes or peeling an apple, a single blade will do just fine. If you want a knife that has a little more versatility to it, then I recommend getting a multi-blade pocket knife. And lastly, if you want something that will provide a solution for as many different situations as possible, a multi-tool is probably your best bet.
Consideration #2 - Do you want a locking blade or not? Locking blades are much safer to use since the blade will lock in the open position, thereby preventing the knife to fold in on your hand during use. If you do want this safety feature, then you should probably go with a single blade knife, since most multi blade knives and tools do not have a locking mechanism on them.
Consideration #3 - Should you buy a name brand pocket knife or an off brand? I would definitely recommend sticking with the most popular name brands such as Case & Sons Cutlery, Spyderco, Buck Knives, Gerber Gear, Benchmade, and the many others on the market today. The main reason for sticking to these well-known knife brands is that they all have a long history of crafting quality pocket knives and usually have great support. Another benefit to sticking with these known brands is that you will find tons of reviews online for their various knives, which will help you get a deeper view on what knives are good and what are bad, and what pocket knives stand the test of time.
Consideration #4 - What type of blade material is the best? There is always a lot of debate about this subject, but here are a few guidelines that will help you decide what is best for you. Stainless steel is a bit soft, which makes the blade easy to sharpen yet still hold an edge for a decent length of time. Carbon steel is harder than stainless, and will hold an edge longer but is harder to sharpen when the time comes for it to be sharpened. Another popular choice, especially with knife collectors and those who are looking for a beautiful piece of craftsmanship, is Damascus. Damascus steel often has beautiful patterns in the steel and is what Samurai swords were made from. Damascus is similar to stainless steel in its properties, meaning it is hard enough to hold an edge yet soft enough to be sharpened.
Consideration #5 - How much should you pay for a pocket knife? While there are really no hard rules or guidelines to follow here, remember that you will get what you pay for. That being said, you can usually pick up a decent pocket knife for $30 to $60. There are also cheaper blades but the quality is likely to drop with the price as well, and there are more expensive blades which sometimes come with a better quality knife, sometimes not.
Finding the best pocket knife is definitely a challenge with so many models out there today, so make sure you do thorough research and read a lot of reviews before making a purchase. Remember that there is no single best pocket knife for everyone, it's a personal choice and preference and depends on what you want out of the knife.

Electronic - Essential Fishing Accessories
In order to truly enjoy the art and sport of fishing, you’ll need a few basic essentials as well as some of the various other accessories that just make fishing enjoyable. You will find that this is a great time to learn about what options you have in fishing and to gather up your tools so that you can set out to enjoy the day.
The rod and reel are the most fundamental of all fishing equipment. You can go with a basic set if you are buying for children or are just the casual fisherman. You’ll also choose basic tackle including hooks, sinkers, fishing line and as bobbers. You’ll need needle nose pliers too. You should consider purchasing a net as well. Make sure to choose the right size of net as a small net can easily lose you the catch. If you fish for a number of different fish, then look for one larger and one smaller option to consider.
Consider the electronic alarm. This wonderful contraption will allow your fishing line to thread through the slot in the alarm head. When you get that bite, the alarm goes off and the LED display flashes. You know there is something waiting for you then! There are a wide range of options to consider here.
Your clothing choices are also important to consider. You’ll need a fishing hat and sunglasses, to protect you from the sun’s powerful rays. A vest is another option especially if it has lots of pockets in it. Waders are idea for thigh or chest type fishing excursions. A good waterproof jacket is almost a necessity in the fall or spring months. Gloves are essential as well. You can select rain suits to help keep you dry as well.
Other things to consider include forceps, flashlights, wading shoes, scissors and a fishing belt. For game fish, consider a gaff. The tackle box or bag, pliers and pocket thermometers are important as well. Think about angling pliers and a good quality fishing knife and sharpener too. Of course, you should take with you a floatation vest or life jacket if you are heading out onto a boat.
Before you run out and spend a considerable amount of money, though, make sure that you take into considerations the type of fish you are after as well as the skill and preferences that you have. Not sure what you need? You can always ask a family member or friend for help but more than likely your information can come from the staff member at your local bait shop.
Fishing only gets better when you have more than enough fishing accessories to help you get the job done correctly. Most of these accessories can be purchased through the web or in any of the best fishing tackle shops near you.

Hawaii is one of the hottest tourist destination in the world. There were about 6.5 million visitors to Hawaii in 2003 and about 7.3 million visitors in 2005.
Hawaii is such a popular tourist destination is largely due to the fact that the state is blessed by beautiful natural landscape and beaches as well as its tourist friendly weather all throughout the year. So there is actually no best time to visit Hawaii unless for specific reasons such as whale watching season.
Weather and climate in Hawaii - The weather in Hawaii can be simply divided into two seasons, namely winter and summer. In winter, which is from mid-October to April, day time temperatures are in the comfortable mid 60 to 80 degree Fahrenheit or 16 to 27 degree Celsius. At night, the temperature will plunge another 10 degrees Fahrenheit so you may need to bring a jacket or a sweater if you are going outdoors.
There is generally more rain at this time of the year, especially so in November and December. The driest places during winter months are Waikiki on Oahu, Makena, Wailea and Kihei on Muai, Kona and Kohala on the Big Island of Hawaii and Poipu on Kuaia.
Summer takes over from May to mid-October and daytime temperature hovers around mid 80 F or about 30 degree Celsius. Evening is cooler by 5 to 10 F. Also there will be less rainfall and even if it does rain, it will be only in short spells. This is the best time for beach activites such as surfing the waves and scuba diving in Hawaii.
Tourists season in Hawaii - The busiest tourist season in Hawaii is from around Christmas time to mid-April despite of the wetter weather during those months. If you travel to Hawaii during this season, you will have to jostle with tourists from all over the world when you visit Hawaii's popular tourist attractions. Hotels, vacation rental homes and accommodations will also be a lot more expensive because of the high demand.
So if you want to avoid crowds and have a less expensive Hawaii holiday vacation, then the best time to visit Hawaii will be from May to October. Other plus points for visiting Hawaii during May to October months are that the trade wind is at its most refreshing and the weather is dry making Hawaii more pleasant for jet lagged tourists.
The north eastern part of the Hawaiian islands bear the brunt of inclement weather most and it is not uncommon to see tourists sprawling on the beaches enjoying sunbathing on one part of the island while fierce rain and wind batter the other part.
Hawaii is sort of blessed where hurricanes and earthquakes are concerned as these forces of nature are infrequent although volcanic eruptions are happening periodically on the Big Island. However, not only are these eruptions safe, viewing the volcanic eruptions close up is one on the favorite tourist activities. Views of the eruptions may be compromised by a "vog" or haze which hangs in the air after the eruptions.
So when is the best time to visit Hawaii? You decide decide for yourself as Hawaii is a tourist magnet all year round.

Promotion and advertising is all about getting noticed so dressing up as something funny or unusual is the perfect way to do this.
It is not hard to see why fancy dress costumes are so popular amongst children, teenagers and adults. It's great fun for everyone of all ages and is bound to help create a night that won't be easily forgotten. It's also great to look back at photos and remember the fun you had.
The most popular reason for people wearing fancy dress costumes is probably at Halloween. This is the most popular time to dress up whether it's children going trick - or - treating or adults having a fancy dress party. Some people prefer to follow tradition and dress up as something scary like a witch, devil or vampire whilst others like to dress up as cartoon characters, film stars or animals. Whatever the reason or occasion fancy dress costumes are a lot of fun and can help to make an evening a lot more interesting.
A lot of nightclubs or other social events frequently hold nights with a theme such as the 'emergency services' where everyone has to dress up as something relevant to the police, fire or ambulance. This is another reason why fancy dress costumes are popular because people want to join in the fun and dress up. It is also common for there to be a prize for the best costume which is an incentive for people to make an effort.
Fancy dress costumes are a great way of making a night out more interesting. It is entertaining for everyone in the party to see what everyone else has come as and people you encounter during the evening usually find it amusing as well. Not only does this create a good atmosphere for the evening but is also a great talking point with anyone you may happen to talk to while you are out.

FAQs for the new year
Bob Donnan/US Presswire
Peyton Manning and his frequently operated-on neck were the subject of a few of Rick Reilly's Frequently Asked Questions for 2013.
Here is the list of Frequently Asked Questions for 2013. Please consult the FAQ list before calling our service line. Thank you.
Q: Why are you always so wrong?
A: It's not easy. Ask the Mayans. So, yes, I was wrong on Notre Dame, Joe Paterno and Europe's chances of winning the Ryder Cup, among a few hundred other things. So sue.
Q: When will you stop making predictions?
A: Hard to predict.
Q: Who's going to be the MVP?
A: I know who should win it. Peyton Manning, and not just because of the unseemly way the Vikings' Adrian Peterson has been campaigning for it. "In my heart, I believe I'm the MVP. Whether I win it or not, I feel I'm the MVP." (People, we don't campaign for Nobel Prizes, Pulitzers or MVPs. Does Meryl Streep announce, "In my heart, I'm the Best Actress"?)
What Peterson did for the Vikings -- 2,000-plus yards coming off knee surgery -- was stunning. But what Peyton Manning did was mind-morphing. Playing for a new team, with a new coach, in a new city, he won 11 straight games, put up the second-best season of his career, and took his team to the No. 1 seed in the AFC, all after having more neck work done than Joan Rivers.
Just look at Manning's December alone: five wins, the highest completion percentage in the league (by 7 points), the highest passer rating in the league (by 18 points), and the AFC Offensive Player of the Month (his sixth, tying an NFL record.) He took an offense that was 25th in points last season and made it second. He took a team with the second-hardest schedule in the NFL to 13-3. And he didn't have to come back from one surgery; he had to come back from four.
"People thought he was done," says Broncos wide receiver Brandon Stokley. "People were saying he'd be a fool to play. They were saying his career was over. People have no idea what he went through just to get back on the field."
Q: Who's going to be Offensive Rookie of the Year?
A: Andrew Luck. Do you recall what owner Jim Irsay did to the two-win Colts just before he got there? He not only cut Manning, he let go of Pro Bowl C Jeff Saturday, WR Pierre Garcon, TE Jacob Tamme, Pro Bowl TE Dallas Clark and half a dozen others. And he signed almost nobody. This was supposed to be a just-drink-your-beer-and-stare-up-at-all-the-banners season.
Except Luck turned up as the reincarnation of Roger Staubach and started winning with people off the taxi squad. Do you realize his leading rusher had one fewer yard than Robert Griffin III? And yet even with every defense sending the 2nd Infantry after him, Luck still won 11 games, seven of them from behind in the fourth quarter.
Don't get me wrong. Griffin was fabulous and mistake-free and astonishing. Name a rookie who gets voted captain halfway through the season! And Russell Wilson of the Seahawks was a revelation too, and possibly the greatest player ever with two sporting goods manufacturers for a name. And Doug Martin of the Bucs. And Alfred Morris, who is not a butler but a running back in Washington. It might be the best rookie class in NFL history. And yet Luck stands above them all.
In fact, the question isn't, "Is Luck the Offensive Rookie of the Year?" The question is: "Why isn't Luck getting MVP talk?"
Q: Why should we believe you? You're wrong more than Karl Rove.
A: Because I was right occasionally in 2012, too. Predicted before the draft that Luck was "a solid-gold slam-the-door star-to-be" and could win "right away" and he has. Slammed Roger Goodell's punishment of Saints players in the bounty scandal as the "worst railroad job since Amtrak" and those penalties were reversed. I said playing the PGA on Kiawah Island in South Carolina would be a logistical "disaster" and it was, unless you like three-hour drives to see golfers play in 100 degree heat index. And I'm STILL going to be right on Jimmer (7.9 ppg, career). You're welcome.
Q: What's your Movie of the Year?
A: "Skyfall." It's about the Texans in the playoffs.
Q: What's the nastiest tweet you got @ReillyRick this year?
A: "H8 U times infinity." And that is a lot.
Q: What's the nicest tweet you got?
A: A reader said he'd waste no time reading my next column. Thought that was nice.

Brian Spurlock/USA TODAY Sports
In case you were asking, Andrew Luck is Rick Reilly's NFL rookie of the year.
Q: What's Peyton Manning like?
A: Like this: Ever since he was a kid, Manning has been writing down his New Year's resolutions on an index card and keeping them. His dad taught him to do that. That means that somewhere, he's got all his resolutions, neatly organized, just to be sure he followed up. The man is, above all else, accountable.
And like this: During the offseason, just after he signed, there was a period where no coaches could be on the practice field, because of the new NFLPA rules. The coaches weren't even supposed to look. But one day, Broncos coach John Fox couldn't help himself and looked out his office window, which sits above the field. He was shocked to see a coach running practice, marching people around in groups, keeping things fastidiously beehived. He was about to call security to get the coach off when he realized it was Manning. No wonder Fox likes to say, "He not only does his job, he does yours."
And even like this: After road wins this year, Manning has been getting on the PA system in the front of the plane and putting on a kind of one-man review. For instance, when Eric Decker tripped on absolutely nothing at San Diego, ruining what would've been a long touchdown, Manning got up and played, in his honor, "Another One Bites the Dust" on the phone. After the big road win at Baltimore, he got up and pleaded with one of the more rotund coaching staff members not to take off his shirt to celebrate. That's what you need in a leader. Somebody who knows when to push and when to back off.
Q: Is every question in this thing about Manning?
A: That's not a Frequently Asked Question.
Q: What was the Quote of the Year for 2012?
A: "You got to go with what you have in your pants."
-- Nicolas Colsaerts of the European Ryder Cup team, after making eight birdies (and an eagle) to help beat Tiger Woods, who made seven.
Q: What will be the Quote of the Year for 2013?
A: "Why don't they just make this league two-hand touch? & Hey, anybody remember where I parked my car?"

Quit your bellyaching
Keegan Bradley, Rory McIlroy, and Ernie Els
AP Photo
Keegan Bradley (l) and Ernie Els (r) both use belly putters. Rory McIlroy uses a regular putter. But the game of golf is facing a dilemma that may leave Bradley, Els and others in the lurch.
People have been cheating with putters since before the birth of Mulligan.
In a back room at USGA headquarters, I once found putters with firing pistons, putters with rubber-band faces, putters with mirrors so you can see the ball and the hole at the same time. Putters you plant in the ground and pull back like a pendulum, putters you lay behind, putters that stand up by themselves. Level-bubble putters, rolling-ball putters and drop-the-ball-down-the-rainspout putters. All now banned.
Which is why it's crazy that one of the most flimflam ideas in putting since "good-good?" is still legal -- the long putter.
If there is any sense in the world, that will all end very soon.
The long putter, aka the belly putter, aka the broomstick, aka the cheatstick, makes putting easier because you can anchor the butt end against your chest or your gut. That takes out half the variable in a putting stroke. It's steroids with a leather handle.
Let me ask you: If you could serve in tennis knowing the toss would be at the same spot every time, wouldn't you? If you could shoot at a target range with the pistol bolted down, how much easier would it be? If a tailback could start on track blocks, wouldn't he?
Cheating is cheating, no matter how much Callaway makes on it.
And yet usually sensible humans like Phil Mickelson and Ernie Els are trying to talk the USGA and the Royal and Ancient out of doing the right thing: banning the act of "anchoring" a putter against the body. Those two governing bodies are poised to do that this spring. Meanwhile, the panicky PGA Tour's policy board -- which includes players and commissioner Tim Finchem -- met via conference call Monday to decide whether they'll:
A) go along with the ban, beginning in 2016.
B) ignore the ban, creating holy hell among the heavenly world powers of golf, or;
C) try to jerry-rig some mess that would allow amateurs like you and me to have them and pros like them not to, which is sort of like having separate road rules for cars vs. buses.
From reports of people on that call Monday, it looks like Finchem will be trying to sell C.
"But I'd have a hard time with that," Mickelson says. "If we start to play the game with a completely different set of rules -- using balls that don't go as far, grooves that spin less, and putters that aren't as efficient -- why would people come out and watch us?"
The pants?
No, all three organizations need to Ban Them or Keep Them, nothing in between.
In the Ban Them crowd: Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy, Arnold Palmer, and people who love the game.
In the Keep Them crowd: Els, Keegan Bradley, and Webb Simpson -- who've won three of the past five majors using the scamstick -- Bill Haas, who won the $10M FedEx Cup with one, and people who love their hedge funds.
(Funny about Els. He's telling everybody now there's no evidence it helps. But when he switched to it, he laughed: "As long as it's legal, I'll cheat like the rest of them.")
"I think Tim Finchem will back his players," says Bradley, who hasn't used a short putter since 2008. "I can play with it. [He won nine college tournaments with it.] But what about all of the regular Joes out there who just play for fun? I get tweets all the time about it. 'Keegan, I can't lean that far over. I'll have to quit the game.' What are those people supposed to do?"
Checkers?
The use of long putters is up 12 percent in the past three years for one reason: It makes it easier to putt. So do gimmes. Does Finchem want to allow them?
"But these things have been around 30 years," Jim Furyk says. "It's kinda late now to go backward."
Couldn't you say the same thing about steroids?
And, yes, USGA officials should've squelched the long putter when it was first popularized by Charles Owens in the early 1980s, but they let it slip. Perhaps they were busy watching "Diff'rent Strokes." I don't know. Not my problem.

Kevin Stadler says he can't putt well with a regular putter.
Just like it's not my problem what somebody like touring pro Kevin Stadler will do without the long putter, which he's used for 15 years straight.
"I literally can't get it into the hole with a short putter," he says. "The last time I used it [at USC], I averaged 37 putts a round. When I switched, the hole went from looking like a dime to a bucket. I have no idea what I'd do for a living without it."
Work?
Look, golf is hard. Nobody knows that more than me. Putting is hard because the stupid golf ball just sits there, not even moving. It's the pressure, the nerves, the bets that make hitting it into the little hole so impossible. Used to be a guy like Bernhard Langer would get the yips and retire to the broadcast booth. Now, he gets out the wonder wand and plays 20 more years.
Tour pro Carl Pettersson, who has used one exclusively for the past 16 years, told The AP's Doug Ferguson, "It feels a bit like a witch hunt to me."
He's right. It IS a witch hunt. Because long putters make you putt like a witch.
Anchoring the putter is cheating, same as Vaseline on the club face or "Gimme a circle 4."
"Wait," asks CBS' Jim Nantz, "You want to ban anchoring?"

Welcome to the club
Magnolia Lane
Scott Halleran/Getty Images
Magnolia Lane leads to the Augusta National Golf Club and one of the most special days a golf fan could have.
Luck just French-kissed you. You've been handed a one-day ticket to Thursday at this year's Masters. But now you're freaking. You'll never get this chance again. What should you do? Where should you go?
Well, this will be my 25th Masters. May I offer a few small suggestions?
6 a.m. ET -- Rise and shine, Augusta patron, and come out of your crappy $379 hotel room in khakis, a colorful golf shirt and a Braves baseball cap. Now you look like a local. Go already.
6:05 a.m. -- Wait! Leave your cell phone! Get caught with one on the course and you're banished for life. I know. I was standing on No. 1 once, watching Tiger Woods putt, when my phone rang in my pocket. Ring tone: "Fly Me to the Moon." Utter horror. Two Pinkerton guards took me roughly by the arms and escorted me toward the front gate. I was staring at a lifetime of standing outside the gate next to Gary McCord when I happened to see Augusta National chairman Billy Payne, whom I knew from his running of the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. "Billy! Save me!" And he did. But he's not going to save you.
6:15 a.m. -- Park for free, like everybody else, in one of the 8,500 no-charge spaces that are really close. Augusta National doesn't care. It's not like they need the money.
7:30 a.m. -- Arriving so early, you should be one of the first through the main entrance when the gate opens. That's when you make like an Olympic racewalker (don't run, it's against the rules) to the 18th green and place your lightweight lawn chair (with your name Sharpied on it) next to the green. It's not easy. You'll be battling a hundred other people clenching their teeth, all pretending to look polite, too, but secretly loathing you. Once it's down, leave. Nobody will take it and nobody will sit in it. The whole deal runs on the honor system, and the Masters is nothing if not honorable.
7:35 a.m. -- Now, quickly, walk to the first tee, get a spot and box out like Charles Barkley. This is a great spot to be Thursday morning and not just because you can see Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer and Gary Player hit the ceremonial first shots of the tournament (three guys, 13 green jackets, what else do you want?) at 7:50 a.m. The tee box is so narrow you can hear every word the rest of the players say, too. You can watch them trying to take deep breaths to relax. How often do you get to watch multimillionaires sweat anything?
9 a.m. -- Observe, for a moment, the most well-run sporting event in the world. And observe all of the stuff you don't see. No ads. Nobody holding any signs. No port-a-potties. No cars suspended on lakes. No electronic scoreboards. No periscopes. (Sorry, Phil Mickelson Sr.) No jean shorts or "I'm With Stupid" T-shirts. No cutesy USGA first-day pairings ("They've all been divorced twice!"). Just golf played on giant fairways and M.C. Escher greens in front of a lot of Southern women in big hats. Fabulous.
9:30 a.m. -- OK, enough tee shots. Now get out to the course while the light is pretty and it's not too hot. First go to the 13th green, just to see the sheer purple-and-pink beauty of it. Get up in the trees to the right of the fairway and look at the little red flag that marks the spot where Phil Mickelson hit his incredible 6-iron on Sunday in 2010 through two trees you could hardly push a lawnmower through. Someday, there needs to be a plaque.
10:20 a.m. -- Now, as Jim Nantz would say, over to 16, where you can sit and watch players try to par the Lindsay Lohan of golf holes -- short, gorgeous and shady. When they're gone, you can watch the turtles bob. When they're gone, you can watch CBS' Verne Lundquist, who's always in the tower at 16 and is the author of the best line ever delivered at Augusta, when Tiger Woods' miracle chip toppled into the hole on its last dimple turn to help him win in 2005: "In your life!!!" (Trivia: Lundquist purposely has never used that line anywhere since.)
10:50 a.m. -- Get to the Grand Central Station of the Masters -- Amen Corner -- where the 11th green, the whole of 12, and the tee shot on 13 lay below your feet like a bright green stage play. It's the fans' favorite, but it's big with the players, too. For one thing, they're separated from the fans by 150 yards, so they can swear all they want. Certain players (cough, Tiger, cough) really like that. Also, behind the 13th tee, they can get to the pee bush, which is out of sight of both spectators and cameras. Now you know.
11:30 a.m. -- OK, climb back up the hill (steeper than you ever thought, right?) to see: a) the Founders Circle design of the U.S. made of flowers; b) the Taj Mahal of golf practice grounds; c) the pretty-enough-to-paint par-3 course; and d) the Eisenhower cabin, built in the 1950s to the exact standards of the Secret Service. I slept there once. It's not much. A sitting room and six bedrooms with twin beds. There was a rather pedestrian painting on the wall above my bed. I had a hunch. I checked the signature in the corner. Yep. Painted by Eisenhower.
(Funny thing about the cabins. They play gin at night in them, penny a point. The story goes that some swinger guest pooh-poohed the puny stakes, not understanding the grace of it. Finally, one of the members said, "All right, sir. What is your net worth?" He told him. The member then plunked a deck on the table and said, "I'll cut you for it.")

Nick Watney found a little trouble in paradise last year on 13 at Augusta. Luckily, you can just concentrate on the azaleas.
11:45 a.m. -- Check out the single-story wing that connects to the clubhouse. There are four rooms and if you stand there long enough, some very rich men will come out of them. The room on the corner is where the club's patron saint, Clifford Roberts, always stayed during the "toonamint." I slept there once, too. In the desk drawer, there was a little white pamphlet that listed the entire membership. My eyes bulged, but my host asked me not to publish it, so I didn't. The Masters is nothing if not honorable.
12:15 p.m. -- This is the time to suck up to a member. Anybody in a green jacket will do. Tell them it was your grandfather's dying wish to eat lunch in the clubhouse and now you must fulfill it in his memory. (Try Condi Rice. She's new.) If they buy it, try to get a table on the balcony. Below you, golf's Oscars will play out -- the best golfers in the world treading the green carpet with the people who run, pay for, or profit from the game. The food you'll get is simple (how many restaurants do you know have chocolate milk on the menu?). Not that it matters. Your jaw will be dropping and it's not polite to talk with your mouth full.
12:45 p.m. -- Excuse yourself to go to the bathroom and instead go straight to the door of the Champions Locker Room. When a champion comes out, take a quick snoop. It's tiny! There are only 28 lockers, so they have to share, even if it's with a dead man, because nobody is forgotten at the Masters. The first time I met Jack Nicklaus was outside this door on Wednesday in 1986 and I had to ask him if he was broke. He took me inside, sat me at one of the card tables, and told me he wasn't. I could hardly hear him over my knees shaking.
12:50 p.m. -- If you're really daring, try to sneak a peek at: a) one of America's finest wine cellars (I've seen it; first thing you notice is floor-to-ceiling Chateau Lafite Rothschild); b) the Crow's Nest, where the amateurs can't sleep, nearly head to toe, while photos of Bobby Jones stare at them; and c) the champions' club collection, where every winner has donated a club except Fred Couples, 1992. Freddy probably forgot.
1:02 p.m. -- Get back to the table! Who takes 17 minutes to go to the bathroom?
1:05 p.m. -- The waiter writes out the bill on a simple little check pad you could buy at Walgreen's for $1.99. Leap to get it, but the waiter is going to give you the stink eye if you give him anything but cash. Imagine: Augusta National hosts captains of finance and industry and yet if you're not staying on the property, they're not taking any chances with your Visa card.
1:15 p.m. -- On the off chance you couldn't weasel your way into the clubhouse, you could still go and eat one of the famous $1.50 secret recipe pimento-and-cheese sandwiches. Don't. They're awful. That's the secret. Have the BBQ sandwich: $2.50 and greasy and delicious. Yes, they'll kill you, but what do you care? You just checked off the No. 1 item on your bucket list. What's left to live for?
2:40 p.m. -- See if you can find Bubba Watson on the course. You want to see what his caddie is wearing on the front of his white overalls: The number 1. It goes to the winner's caddie each year. Who says golf doesn't have jersey numbers? If you can't find Bubba, you can at least go to the spot in the trees to the right of No. 10 where he hit the sickest left-handed 164-yard gap-wedge (yes! gap-wedge!) hellahook ever seen to win the playoff. It's the only historic shot a winner has ever hit that's still outside the ropes.
3:45 p.m. -- Tired yet? Then go sit in your chair on 18. Savor the quaint tradition of a Masters member announcing the names of the players who are about to approach the green, without a microphone. Shake your head at a tournament with no hospitality tents and yet with hospitality coming out of its ears.
5:30 p.m. -- You have about an hour before the massive and yet somehow classy souvenir shop closes, so now's the time to go. You can get all the same stuff online, of course, but what kind of story is that to tell?

Sergio Garcia doesn't trust success
Sergio Garcia

Sergio Garcia showed little joy for a man sharing the lead after the first day at the Masters.
People, you're going at life all wrong. Do not try, try again. Try a few times and then go back to your room and mope. Set the bar low and then slink under it. The key to success is being positive ... that it will never happen to you.
Take, for instance Sergio Garcia, the Sulking Spaniard. He is a man who does not see a glass half full. He sees a glass that someone will soon pick up and crack over his skull.
Take last year at the Masters, for instance. Garcia shot himself out of it with a Saturday 75 and then announced to the world he was done trying.
"I'm not good enough," he said that day. "I don't have the thing I need to have. In 13 years [as a pro], I've come to the conclusion that I need to play for second or third place. I have no more options. I wasted my options. ... Tell me something I can do."
And yet?
If you check your favorite sports website this morning, you'll see that this same Sergio Garcia, the Eeyore of golf, has a share of the lead at this 2013 Masters after a brilliant 6-under 66 Thursday.
It won't be easy playing for third place from first, but if anybody can do it, it's Garcia.
"This is obviously not my favorite place -- my most favorite place, that is," he said afterward. "We try to enjoy it as much as we can. Sometimes it comes out better than others. Today it was one of those good days. Let's enjoy it while it lasts."
Hey, Sergio, can you come speak at my Pessimists' Club meeting?
Look at him, would you? The man just shot 66 and he looks like he just shot 86. He has all the joy of a mortician whose hearse just ran over his own dog. His next smile is scheduled for Aug. 13.
I don't know where the happy, jumping-off-the-golf-cart, 19-year-old Sergio went, but what we're left with now is the waiting-for-a-Steinway-to-fall-on-his-head Sergio.
"That's the beautiful [thing] about being 19," he reminisced recently, at 33. "When you are 19 or 15 or 12, you don't think. You just go out there and you don't think and you let it fly and there isn't a worry in the world. ... And then, as the years go by and you've been hit with disappointments and they start to wear down on you, you start thinking too much. Back then, the world was right in front of me."
Wow. Anybody got a Xanax?

As a 19-year-old pro giving Tiger Woods a run for his money, no one expected Sergio Garcia to struggle so much in the future.
Garcia had so much promise. They called him The Kid. He was the low amateur at his first Masters. He was a pro by 19. Youngest ever to play in a Ryder Cup. Now he's 0-for-57 in majors.
And he knows what happened. Somewhere along the way, the cosmos decided to ruin his life. Golf grew biased against him.
At Bethpage in 2002, USGA officials refused to suspend a rain-soaked round simply to spite him. Afterward, he railed that they'd have stopped play if Tiger Woods had been out there.
Fans tormented him. At that same Bethpage, they counted his waggles (27, once) and chanted, "Hit it, Sergio!"
Flagsticks mocked him. At Carnoustie in 2007, his playoff shot to the par-3 16th hit the stick and bounced 20 feet away from the hole. "I'm playing against a lot of guys out there," Garcia concluded, darkly, afterward. "... More than the field."
Don't you see? Even the unseen want him to suffer!
Love has abandoned him. In his 20s, he was in a long relationship with the daughter of Greg Norman, Morgan-Leigh. But they split up and he has yet to marry. In a Masters loaded with attending celebrity girlfriends -- Lindsey Vonn (Tiger Woods), Caroline Wozniacki (Rory McIlroy) and Paulina Gretzky (Dustin Johnson) -- can you image how heavy his heart must lie?
Even trees are out to get him.
At Bay Hill in March, he hit a shot into a tree on the 10th hole, climbed up it, hit the shot and jumped out, injuring himself and withdrawing two holes later.
No wonder he is an empty vessel bereft of hope bobbing on an unlit sea.
Even after his Thursday 66, he was talking about probably having to "scramble" back up a leaderboard later in the week, a leaderboard his name sits atop now.
He's probably right, of course. He's had two first-round leads in majors before ('99 PGA, '07 British) and lost them both (Woods, Padraig Harrington). He's never really played well at Augusta before this. In 14 tries at the green jacket, he has only two top-10 finishes.
Sergio knows. He feels it. Heartache is coming for him.
In fact, it makes you wonder. How did he get away with such a wonderful, bogey-free round Thursday without destiny smiting him down?
The answer: He, Dustin Johnson and Jason Day all wore the exact same shirt Thursday.
God couldn't find him.

"Well, I'll be happy to give you a push," Pressel said
Wie turned to Pressel during the trophy ceremony and asked if she should start a new tradition by also jumping into the water as low amateur.
"Well, I'll be happy to give you a push," Pressel said.
We think Pressel was kidding.
That's where an often-used photograph of Wie and Pressel originated. In the photo, they are standing side by side, looking at each other with these odd expressions. Wie, at 6 feet, is looking down at the shorter Pressel, whose chin is up and looking particularly square and defiant. The photo is often rerun in golf magazines doing stories on them.
With Pressel, 17, and Wie, 16, will meet for the first time as professionals next week at the Fields Open at Ko Olina Club just outside Honolulu, and interest in their relationship is heightening here on the islands.
The Golf Channel is working hard behind the scenes to try to get them to sit down together for an interview on Tuesday, a tantalizing possibility still up in the air.
Pressel told the South Florida Sun-Sentinel on Tuesday that she rarely sees Wie, but their exchanges are always friendly and polite. "We get along fine, there's no problem," she said.
That's at odds with the perception, especially on the islands, where Pressel's comments about Wie get large play. Pressel, after all, made headlines in both the Honolulu Star-Bulletin and Honolulu Advertiser when she said Wie should not get another special exemption to the U.S. Women's Open and ought to have to qualify like everybody else except honored veteran champions. Pressel also has challenged Wie's decision to devote so much attention to playing against men.
Asked to elaborate on her U.S. Women's Open stance in a Golf Channel interview Friday night, Pressel said she stood by her statement.
"I didn't mean anything personally, especially against Michelle," Pressel said. "I just made a statement that everybody has to qualify. It will obviously come down to what the USGA says, but I didn't mean it personally."
Pressel already has a reputation as a straight shooter who answers questions directly. LPGA Commissioner Carolyn Bivens noted this week that Pressel "doesn't edit her answers," and that adds to her appeal.
There's a backdrop to all of this that the average golf fan may not understand.
Pressel almost feels like a golfer protecting the field when she's asked certain questions about Wie, because she doesn't volunteer these opinions. She's asked a lot about Wie and obliges with answers.
Americans want to know more about soccer.
"Soccer is not only part of the history of so many Latin Americans and Europeans," said Francescoli. "It's a sport that has exploded in the U.S. and now, so many Americans want to know more about soccer."
Nearly two years and 5 million viewers later, GolTV has become one of the most popular channels on the Dish Network satellite system. The Miami-based channel airs its own soccer news updates and reports from soccer matches around the world. Programming is in Spanish, but GolTV provides real-time English translation through the SAP option on most television sets.
Next month, GolTV will launch a new initiative to attract younger viewers by sponsoring youth league events around the country and airing instructional shows produced by the famous English team, Manchester United.
In addition to the Dish Network, GolTV is available on Comcast, Adelphia and several independent cable systems. Francescoli and Constantino Voulgaris, GolTV director of business development and information technology, say they expect to sign a deal with other systems, such as DirecTV, by the end of the year.
"We expect to have 8 million viewers by the end of the year," said Voulgaris. "The interest in soccer has been bigger than even we anticipated."
GolTV started out as a six-person operation in 2003. Today, the company employs 100 people in its Miami offices and has freelancers in Europe, Mexico, Central America and South America. For millions of Hispanic soccer fans frustrated with U.S. sports channels that focus mostly on European leagues, GolTV provides matches and news updates on Latin American as well as European leagues.
"It's good because they have a diverse lineup," said Enver Peck, vice president of the Palm Beach Soccer League. "Fox only shows soccer in England, but these guys show Brazil, Uruguay and lots of different countries."
Voulgaris says GolTV is not modeled specifically after an existing channel, but does follow the mold of other niche networks such as the Golf Channel and the Tennis Channel. Voulgaris said getting picked up by the Dish Network, one of the larger satellite systems, was essential to GolTV's success.
"They realized soccer is growing fast, and instantly we had 3.5 million viewers," he said. "In a smaller cable market, that would take years to build."
The Dish Network added GolTV to its Latin American package in February 2003, but soon added the channel to its English-language sports package.

Pressel was part of the youthful contingent on the American Junior Golf
Pressel was part of the youthful contingent on the American Junior Golf Association circuit that was overshadowed by Wie. Pressel and other gifted junior champions watched Wie get a full complement of LPGA sponsor invites while other juniors with more accomplished resumes got jilted. Whether it's justified or not, the enormous attention Wie gained aggravated a legion of juniors, and especially aggravated their parents.
If you follow the junior circuit, there's palpable resentment out there. Wie's only noteworthy victory outside Hawaii is the U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship. You can call it envy or jealousy, but it feels more like righteous indignation to some of these junior parents, who believe their players are equally deserving of opportunities and attention.
When amateur and accomplished AJGA veteran Brittany Lincicome grabbed the first-round lead at the U.S. Women's Open in South Hadley, Mass., two years ago, these feelings came out in a strong manner. Her parents made a point of telling reporters there that Lincicome's headline-stealing play showed there's more than one junior out there who can step up in class.
When Pressel knocked Wie out of the U.S. Girls' Junior Championship in the third round in 2003, a large contingent of juniors came out of the clubhouse to root on Pressel. It would turn out to be the last junior event Wie played.
Obviously, Wie's a special case, one of those rare prodigies where maybe the traditional rules don't apply. Still, as a giant personality who just signed $10 million endorsement deals with Sony and Nike, as a young star dwarfing her peers, these are real feelings she's up against.
Is she a marketing genius, creating value in missed PGA Tour cuts while challenging men? Or is she a golf champion?
As for Pressel's personal feelings?
"We get along fine," she said. "We obviously don't see each other that much, but when we do there are never any problems. When we do see each other, we say hi, and there's no problem there."
Wie is not here this week and won't be available for comment until next week.

"This [clinic] is very beneficial," Smith said. "This is the only thing that is holding me back. I am in the low 80s, so if I can shave off a few strokes by being a better putter, that would be great."
Lake Worth's Vince Elliott, 53, was testing his skills in the county's putting challenge for the second time.
"I just want to come out here and have some fun," said Elliott, who comes to the links once a week for a casual round of golf. "I will also come out and work on my putting once a week."
Palm Beach Gardens' Eric Strand, 46, brought his 8-year-old son Zachary to the event. He liked the friendly competition and said his son was going to start in a kids' program at the center.
There were six divisions and trophies and prizes awarded in each. All proceeds benefited the Junior Golf Foundation of America.
