Orange County in Southern California has long been known as a mecca for golfers; the Mediterranean climate means golfing year-round. There are literally hundreds of public golf courses in the LA metro area, but private golf courses in Orange CA may have more to offer.
Now, we don't want to "diss" public golfcourses; many of these are fine facilities that don't cost a lot to use. If you only play golf occasionally, this really may be a better option for you. However, for the true golf aficionado who is out on the green several times a week, it may very well be worth your while to join one of the fine private golf courses in Orange County, CA. The only other reason you might stick to public golf courses is if you get bored playing the same course all the time “ but then, private golf courses in Orange County, CA offer more than just golf.
There's also a world of golf beyond Orange County, if you're willing to drive a bit, or live in another part of Southern California, such as Palm Desert or San Diego. Palm Desert California golf courses are located only about an hour east of the LA metro area, but offer a much different atmosphere. These private clubs (and there are several) are also more exclusive and less crowded; Palm Desert California golf courses are ideal for a weekend golf getaway. Of course, Palm Desert California golf courses are only a small part of what this region has to offer in terms of golfing fun and relaxation.
Further south near San Diego is the Chula Vista Golf Course, located on Bonita Road. This particular one is a favorite with local golfers; the Chula Vista Golf Course offers a full eighteen holes amidst some of the San Diego area's most beautiful landscape, watered by its own water hazard, the Sweetwater River. This course is certain to keep you challenged!
Other San Diego country clubs include the La Jolla Country Club, a full service resort near the ocean; the La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club is right next door, and when you get hungry, the on-site cafe offers reasonably-priced meals that are comparable to higher-priced San Diego country clubs.
Heading back north, Long Beach golf opportunities include three major courses and at least a dozen driving ranges and pro shopsaround the town. Bixby Village and Recreation Park are two Long Beach golf facilities that cater to beginners; if you are a novice or introducing the kids to the game, either of these places would be an excellent choice.
Public or private golf courses in Orange County CA and the surrounding area have much to offer players of all levels. The only issues to think about is how often you play, how much you want to spend and what other amenities you want; chances are there are several private golf courses in Orange County CA that can meet your requirements.
